National Kilz Paint Your Wagon Award goes to…Burnett 1-800-PAINTING

Paint Your Wagon Award Winners- Burnett 1-800-PAINTINGWe are so excited to bring home the National Kilz Paint Your Wagon Award! We owe this award to all of you who voted or even tried to vote for us! We couldn’t have done it without you. In fact, we won by just 30 votes! Phew! That was close! Way to go!

This award especially means a lot to Steve since it really comes down to a brand/marketing award and that is his passion. He likes to say that he is a marketing guy with a painting business! He’s so funny like that!

We’d also like to thank all of the painting companies that participated and made this an extra fun event!

When we were called up to accept the award, Steve said this:

“It was Seth Godin who said, “If the market place is not talking about you, it’s because you are boring and you’re boring on purpose. You’re boring because it’s safe.” That really hit home for me and I said I would take that challenge.”

Now Steve and I do crazy marketing things, such as promote “Paint Your Wagon Award” to all our wonderful customers, friends, and family because it’s fun and it will get people talking about us and keep us top of mind, which is key to marketing.

So, again, we’d like to say a big,

Exterior Painting of Home Adds the Weight of a Small Dolphin!

Bottle-nose Dolphin weight added to home when repainting exterior in Venice, FLWhat a fun fact! When painting the exterior of your home, you add the weight of a small Bottle-nose Dolphin to your house!

How did we come up with that? Here’s the breakdown of the math behind that statement:

When using Benjamin Moore paint and sealer, the average home in Venice, Florida will take 7 gallons of sealer and 15 gallons of paint. We use Benjamin Moore Paint and sealer due to the high quality of the products: high viscosity, high solid content, and a 9 year warranty!

The sealer we use is Benjamin Moore’s SUPER SPEC® MASONRY INTERIOR/EXTERIOR 100% ACRYLIC MASONRY SEALER N066- weighing in at 8.5 pounds per gallon.

The paint we love is Benjamin Moore’s REGAL SELECT weighing in at 11 pounds per gallon.

Now, we take the average number of gallons of sealer times weight and add the average number of gallons of paint times the weight giving us:

(7×8.5)+(15×11)= 224.5 pounds of pure home owner happiness!

Bottle-nose Dolphins weigh in playfully at 300-500 pounds near the Atlantic Ocean. Therefore, your home will add the weight of a small Bottle-nose Dolphin after Burnett 1-800-PAINTING is finished giving you an outstanding experience of painting your Venice, Florida home!

Interview Your Venice, Florida Painter for Superior Results

The only way to get the results you want out of a Florida painter is to interview them. A lot of painters are out there and not all of them use the same techniques and the same quality paint. You want the best results possible for the exterior of your home and the painter you hire will have a significant impact.

When you decide to have the exterior of your home painted, you need to look at more than one painter for the job. Take the time to interview three or four companies. Make sure they come out to your home, talk to you about what you want, and discuss their techniques. Many times, when a professional comes out for the estimate, all your questions will be answered before he’s done estimating and then asks if you have any questions.how to interview a painting company- cartoon

Should you need to ask questions, prepare a list ahead of time. This way you can ask the same questions of all the painters you interview. Then you can do some comparisons between their answers to find out who is the most experienced and who is the right one for your project.

The top questions should revolve around their ability to perform the work. While cost is a factor, you want to find out about their warranty, their guarantee, and what kind of paint they use. This will tell you a lot about the professionalism of the painter. It will also help you determine what your home will look like afterwards.

The average painter will arrive to your home for an interview prepared for any questions you may ask. This could include photos of past homes they’ve painted, a copy of a warranty they will provide you, as well as price estimates for the cost of your exterior painting.

Exterior painting is very important. The exterior of your home is the first thing that people see when they look at your house. If you have bubbling on the paint, uneven coverage, or peeling, your home will look older than it really is. You can prevent this kind of embarrassment entirely – just by choosing the best painter for the job.

Painters in Venice, Florida must be interviewed to set them apart from their competition. Not all painters are the same and not all licenses equate to professionalism. Many have worked on construction crews and have decided to moonlight as exterior painters on the side. While this sounds like a way to save some money, it often comes at a cost – usually through the use of poor quality paint, a paint job that takes weeks to complete and/or no warranty.

Your home should look stunning when the project is complete. Through interviewing your painter, you can get the superior results that you’ve been looking for. You will be able to determine who the professional painters are, who is the most qualified, and who offers the most to you. From design to quality to price, all of these topics should be covered in your interview.

4 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Painter in Venice, Florida

Hiring an exterior painter in Venice, Florida is a very serious task. You don’t want to hire just anyone because it could have a significant impact on what your home looks like. Hire the wrong person and your home could look worse than it does now. Since you don’t want to waste your money, there are four questions you need to ask a painter before hiring them.

Four questions to ask your Venice, Florida painter

Four questions to ask your Venice, Florida painter

Do you have a warranty?

A warranty is perhaps the most important question to ask when looking for a Florida painter. This will set the professionals apart from the rest. If there’s no warranty, it’s usually because they don’t guarantee their work. Whatever the reason, this isn’t the painter you want for your Venice home.

The warranty should protect the work and the quality of paint. The better the warranty, the easier you can rest knowing your home will look great. You may even find a 9 year warranty, which is the longest warranty out on the market, particularly in Florida.

Can I see past work?

Through testimonials, photographs, or a simply email or phone call, you can look into the quality of work that your painter is responsible for. Proud and professional painters will have this information on hand when they meet with you. If a painter stumbles on the question when you ask, move on.

When you look at the past work, check for bubbles, uneven coverage, and peeling. If you see any of this, move on to the next painter on your list. You want even coverage and a beautiful color.

Are you insured?

If the Florida painter you hire doesn’t have insurance, it could end up costing you a lot of money. When your painter is standing on a ladder on your property, you’re liable if something happens…unless they have liability insurance. Should they fall, you want them paying for the injuries – not yourself.

The insurance policy will also help you separate the professionals from the ones that are doing it on the side. Any professional painter in Venice, Florida will have the insurance. If they don’t have the insurance, move onto another painter on your list. It will help you to save a lot of money in the end.

How do you charge?

The price of the exterior painting in Venice, Florida is important. What’s more important is how they charge. You don’t want a painter that is going to charge you by the hour. It could result in a painter taking their time on your home.

Instead, you want to find a Florida painter that is going to give you a flat fee. Get the quote in writing and that should be the only price you pay for the exterior painting of your home.

Four questions aren’t a lot to ask of a Venice painter, but it can make a major impact on how good your home looks after it’s painted.

Why Quality Paint Matters in Venice, Florida

When you cook a special meal, quality ingredients matter. When you paint the exterior of your home, the quality of paint matters, too. This is an area where you don’t want to skimp because it will show in all of the details. When people look at your home, the first thing people see is the paint. To make sure your home makes a good impression, check out the type of paint your Florida painter is using before you hire them.

Not all paint is the same. When you walk into any home improvement store, it will be obvious by the various brands and types that fill the shelves. Some are designed for exterior painting while others are better suited for interior painting. Hiring a professional means you can trust that they know the difference.

Especially in Florida, a Venice painter must know what they are doing when it comes to choosing quality paint. Paint can fade in the hot sun quicker than in the northern states. As a result, your Venice painter must be aware of this and choose a paint brand that has been specially formulated to hold up to the conditions longer.

Shopping for a Florida painter should entail looking at the warranties they offer. There are some painters that will issue you a warranty directly from the paint manufacturer. This proves they are using quality paint – and it is guaranteed for a certain number of years. This gives you peace of mind that the price you’re paying is worth it because the paint won’t fade, peel or bubble.

If the wrong type of paint is used on stucco, it may not adhere correctly. For the first few days or even weeks, it may look just fine. However, as the sun continues to beat down on the side of your home, the paint may begin to peel directly off of your home. If you didn’t get a warranty from your painter, you would be out all the money you just spent.

In addition, poor quality paint may not hold up to the conditions as well as the higher quality paints. Especially when you opt for a darker color, whether it’s for trim or the entire home, the color may fade much quicker than had you spent the additional money. What this means is the color you chose may not be the actual color next year or the year after that.

You should get what you expect. When you meet with a painter and you decide on a color, that’s the color that should be on your home. Further, that color should be on your home in nice, even brush strokes, not peeling or bubbling. A warranty can protect you and give you the promise of quality paint. Without it, you’re taking a chance.

Hiring a Florida painter means you must hire a professional. Any professional painter will gladly tell you the brand of paint that is being used. Quality, professional painters are proud to use the best products and happy to tell you why they are the best.

3 Reasons Why a Professional Painter Could Make a Cruise Avaiable for you from Venice, Florida!

Venice, Florida painter helps people take cruises!

Venice, Florida painter helps you take a cruise!

Everyone wants to know they are being money savvy and wise. Perhaps you are saving for a cruise! We are here to help you do just that! So, let’s look at the situation: will doing your own painting save you money for your cruise or take away cruise money? When it comes to painting the exterior of your home, a “do it yourself”  paint job may actually cost you a lot more money than hiring a professional Florida painter. The reasons are plentiful. Three of the main reasons are that your painting professional knows how to: prep the stucco properly, find colors that won’t fade (and is of the highest quality), and how to apply that paint to the surface by using the right tools. By hiring a professional, you can actually save a significant amount of money (for your cruise or what have you!).

A lot of DIY painters think that a pressure washer and a paint gun is all that’s necessary to paint the outside of a home. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

First of all, prepping the stucco and all other surfaces of the home involve more than just a pressure washer. Is your paint chalking? There’s a special sealer for that. Do you have mold growing on your soffits and gutters? There’s a special treatment for that. Do you have cracks on the stucco? There’s a special caulk for that. Are you going from a dark color to a lighter color? There’s a special primer for that, too.

Second, the color choices can be costly when turning exterior painting into a DIY project. Many people tend to choose dark or bright colors for their homes. However, there is a reason that Venice homes are often done up in neutrals with only a few accents in brighter colors. The reason is because the sun will often be absorbed in the darker colors, causing premature fading. For example, I would love to have a yellow home with white trim. I think those colors are so elegant and beautiful! However, yellow is the fastest fading color known to Florida mankind, so we veered away from that.

Lastly, when it comes to applying the paint to the house, a paint gun (also known as a sprayer) may be used for some aspects of the home like the soffits and gutters, but cannot give stucco the thickness of paint it needs without dripping and running. However, it would seem a quick way to get any home painted fast! It’s just that, in order for the stucco to get full coverage, a roller and a brush are the most effective tools.

A bonus hint, a professional painter in Venice, Florida is going to issue you a warranty based upon their workmanship as well as the warranty of the paint manufacturer. What this means to you is that you have between 3 and 9 years, depending on the painter, to call them back up and re-paint your house if there are any problems with the paint or application of that paint. A DIY project doesn’t include that.

Venice, Florida painter helps people take cruises!!!When you rely on a Florida painter to help you with the painting, it starts at choosing the colors of your home. From there, they will prep the home, paint it, and provide you with a warranty. It’s the best way to get a great looking home that won’t need to be repainted for several years into the future and save you the most money possible. What will you do with your savings? Bring on the cruise!  :)
