“The tragedy in life does not lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.“
–Benjamin Mays
Don’t give up on your goals! Modify them, of course and, at times, you should! Better to “aim for the moon; at the very least, you’ll land among the stars!”
Today’s motivation: Why I think everyone’s goals should include striving to be a millionaire…
Jim Rohn said, “Don’t become a millionaire for the money; become a millionaire for the person you become along the way.” Who does one become on the journey to a millionaire? GREAT question! I’ll share a few answers over the course of the next few Sundays. First…
1. A blessing to people and a people person: Unlike what the news and media and T.V. would have us to believe, the majority of affluent have many, many deep and meaningful relationships and have been such a blessing to so many people. They don’t have “friends” who would say, “I don’t like ‘so and so’. They told me off.” That is not the road to success and anyone who’s taken that road, will find a dead end soon enough. By truly caring about people and taking our eyes off ourselves, we will develop numerous relationships of which you gain inspiration and give forth inspiration. You’ll be a joy to everyone you meet! What a life!
Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be first must place himself last of all and be the servant of all” Take a look, if you haven’t all ready, at Russell H. Conwell’s life. You can find it in the second half of the book Acres of Diamonds. He was a true servant (and friend) to literally, millions of people…a preacher, a speaker, creating 2 hospitals, and one university.
When Steve started Burnett Painting, we had many customers (We like to call them friends!). I’ve always enjoyed the friendships and I enjoy making new friends along the way. Our friendships have doubled since I’ve known Steve and I look forward to doubling again and again. WHY? Because we enjoy meeting our new customers who turn into our friends! We love to get to know them, their interests, their goals, and getting together with them, especially for coffee! 😉 We like to find ways we can help out. It doesn’t even have to be painting related!
The very first time I went to a friend of Burnett Painting’s home in which Steve had done some work previously, I met a charming couple, BJ and Marie, who showed me their piano while Steve hung up a couple troublesome curtains for them. It was such fun! BJ and I played “Heart and Soul” together on the piano and I just had a blast! He is an expert piano musician and that memory is very sweet for me today. This is the stuff life is made for: relationships! First, and foremost, our relationship to God. Second, our relationship to mankind.
I want to stress what Jim Rohn said, “Don’t become a millionaire for the money. Become a millionaire for the person you’ll become.”
A sneak peak for next time… Reason #2 why I think we all should aim to be millionaires: Think of all the GOOD you can do! More next time! Make it a super-fantastic day!
