Due to the fact that it is not cheap to paint a house, it is important to find quality and affordable house painting. The total costs of painting the interior and/or exterior of the home needs to be factored into any cost analysis of painting. It is not just a question of what color of paint to use. The quality and type of the paint needs to be considered, as well as the quality of the material used to paint with. Nothing will be more affordable than painting the house yourself, but even that takes time and money. It is not difficult to contract with a painting professional to obtain affordable house painting.

The costs difference between lower quality and higher quality house paint is on average about $40. Lower quality paint is priced from $10 a gallon and higher quality paint can be found for $40 and over. Many people simple opt for the lower quality paint, without considering the cost value of using higher quality paint. Higher quality paint is more durable, requires less coats be painted, and applies easier making it an affordable house painting idea. The difference in total costs, if any, by using lower quality paint, will be nullified due to the fact that you will use more paint of the lower quality paint than if you bought higher quality paint.

Affordable house painting also involves preparation materials to be used to paint your home. Some low quality rollers and brushes wear easily and aren’t cost effective in the long run. Affordable house painting does not mean that you should buy the cheapest paint or material in the market, but the best quality paint and material for the job at hand.

For an affordable house painting, you may opt to do it yourself. However, keep in mind the labor intensive and physical effort required in painting a home interior or exterior. Especially in exterior painting, as it is more demanding due to height issues. A large part of painting is moving large pieces of furniture around, and that should also be considered by you in securing affordable house painting. What about the time involved in painting? Figure out if it is more cost effective to paint yourself and save money, or have a professional with experience do the job. Each home is unique and requires different levels of preparation before applying the paint, be sure you know what it takes if you decide to do it yourself or go with a professional painter.

The most important factor in obtaining an affordable house painting is to shop around and find a professional contractor who will do the best job at an economical price. You can get free estimates from most contractors online, simply by knowing the dimensions of the area you wish to paint. Several web sites even offer you the chance to compare various quotes from independent contractors. Regardless of where you find the painting professional, you should always have an idea of the quality of work they have done and it does not hurt to check his professional references. Affordable house painting can be done by you, but a professional, with the right tools and expertise, may sometimes be the better option.

Whether you are going to be adding brand new vinyl siding to your home built from custom home plans or will simply be adding a new layer of paint, choosing a color for your home can be quite daunting. There are several things to consider that will help you in this decision. Before you commit to any one color, it is a good idea to think these through.

The first thing that you need to think about is the other homes in your area. You don’t want to add a color to the walls of your home that will have you sticking out like a sore thumb. If the other houses in your neighborhood all tend to favor bright colors, then by all means go for that orange hue. Your best bet will be to take your cue from houses around you, so if no one is sporting that bright orange that you just love you are better off choosing something less dramatic. There is nothing worse than having angry neighbors just because of your house color! You should also read your CCRs for your home owners association, if you have one. They might have included a section on housing colors that can help you get started.

To get a good look at your house built from French house plans, walk across the street and take a picture. This will allow you to bring your house inside where you can really think about the color. You can also upload your photo to your computer and manually add a color that you think would look nice to the picture. This will give you a great visual of the paint color without having to buy any paint. If the houses next door to you are a neutral color, consider staying the in the same color scheme, but either going one or two shades lighter or darker, depending on their colors. You don’t want to go too dark or light however, as this will make your house really stick out.

The best color for your country home plans is one that highlights the beautiful features of your home. If you choose your colors wisely you can hide any design flaws your house might have. You can also add to your curb appeal and the value of your home. To further highlight your home, you can pull from your home’s existing features. You will want to make sure that the color you choose will harmonize well with your existing roof. Clashing colors will look unsightly.

The main thing to remember when choosing a paint color is to keep yourself inconspicuous. The less your house built from custom home plans you bought at House Plans and More sticks out from the rest is better. Whether you have a home built using country home plans or French house plans, the key is to blend in with the neighborhood. House Plans and More has many pictures of houses that you can browse through to get an idea on what types of colors you favor.

Painting a house is no easy endeavor, but the job can be made easier if you use the proper house painting tools. Selecting what color to paint is the easiest step in the house painting process. However, without the proper house painting tools to assist you, the job will become more difficult. The three most common house painting tools used today is paintbrush, paint roller and airless sprayer. It really depends on the paint job needed to determine what type of house painting tools to utilize.

Paintbrushes are the most common type of tool in the market. There are two types of paintbrushes, natural bristle brushes (made from animal hair) and synthetic bristle brushes (usually made of nylon). Natural bristle brushes were once considered the best paintbrushes to use, but the quality of synthetic brushes has improved dramatically in recent years and is now considered just as good as the natural ones. However, it is important to know that you cannot use the natural brushes on water based latex paints due to the fact that water causes the bristles to go limp. Paintbrushes come in many different sizes, the most common being the 6 inch and 4 inch wall brushes and the 2 inch trim brush. Another house painting tool that is popular is the foam brush, made from foam urethane and with sponge like heads. Other sizes of paintbrushes are available for that special trim or hard to reach corner.

They can significantly reduce the time needed to paint a home. For example, the use of a paint roller over flat surfaces can cut down the time it takes to paint a wall almost in half. While you will use paintbrushes to paint the trim, around windows and doors, the paint rollers are used to paint all the large blank surfaces. Rollers can in various sizes from 4-18″, but the size used for most interior paint jobs is the ones that are 7″ and 9″ wide. Paint rollers have specially made handles made of wood or plastic making it easy to attach an extension handle and a plastic or metal frame that holds the roll cover nice and secure. Roller coves are made from an assortment of materials, such as mohair, lamb’s wool, Dynel, polyurethane foam, or acetate. The roller cover you need to use will be determined by the type of paint you are going to be using, and most roller coves will be labeled indicating the type of paint it is to be used for. Rollers are an essential component of any house painting tools kit.

The best invention in house painting tools lately are the airless sprayers. It is an absolutely wonderful time saver, as far as house painting tools are concerned. It can apply paint on any surface faster than other methods. You can also attach a power roller to an airless prayer, allowing you to apply paint faster and produce excellent results. For a super fine finish and more control, nothing beats the new HVLP Sprayers.

The interior design of our homes is a good representation of who we are. Leaving your walls painted with a boring color on them simply says that-boring. This is why textured paint has become so popular recently. It is very easy to do yourself, or cheap to pay someone else to do. It is quick and gives great results even to a beginner.

Not only can this paint spice up your walls, but it can also be used to cover up existing stains or other wall problems you may have. If the stains are very bad, I would use a thick primer before using any textured paint.

You have quite a few options just within textured paint to choose from. You can do a sponged/ragged glaze. This is one of the easiest and most common techniques. The walls are painted the base color, the highlight paint is mixed with a glaze, and the glazed mixture is sponged or ragged on top of the base coat. There are several variations to this, but this is the basics.

Another type of textured paint you may want to try is mixing a special glitter or sparkle additive to the paint. This makes your walls glimmer slightly. You can get the sparkles in your walls color or something slightly different. This is a fun way to spice up a room. You can choose how much or how little sparkles will go into the paint.

A third type of textured paint is venetian plaster. This is one of the more difficult techniques to master. It will take at least three separate coats of paint, each using different technique to get the right look. You will have to look at individual manufacturers suggestions for this paint.

These are just three of many, many options you have. Make sure to do your homework and learn all about the different types of paint before painting.

White denotes peace. White gives an appearance of calm, soothing and tranquil look to the surroundings. Moreover white furniture gels well with all the other decor usually found in a room. No wonder then that many opt for the idea of painting their old and jaded furniture white to give it a fresh new look. The process involved in painting furniture white is actually pretty simple. Firstly dismantle the furniture into separate parts.

Place them on a thick cardboard or even a newspapers spread out will do. You will have to check for the type of wooden surface the furniture piece is. If the former finish of wood is glossy type then a sanding process with sand paper is essential. The direction of sanding must be in sync with the direction of the wooden grains. However if you see that the wooden furniture has a raw look like the type you get at thrift stores then sanding is not required. Next in line is the application of primer for the adhesive effect on the wooden furniture.

Allow this to dry. Application of paint and primer must necessarily be done by a paintbrush or roller but not the foam variety. You would not want to see blobs of paint on the furniture piece, so avoid use of foam roller. Also do remember do paint in the direction of wooden grains for an even finish. Repeat the process with a second coating and finally top this with the glossy type of paint for a smooth appearance and with that the process of painting furniture whiteends thereby resulting in brand new-looking furniture.

Those interested in doing thing and refurbishing their interior decor such as painting furniture white should seek information from the Internet where ample sources thrive providing such innovative ideas.

Before you start painting you need to decide whether you intend your new decorating job to reflect the focal point of your room or whether you prefer it to be a background that brightens up your walls but allows your focus to be caught by pictures and furnishing. It is not always necessary to stick with pastel colors when painting small spaces: you can use a blue with a bold hue or a yellow that is deep and rich.

Either of these colors will reflect light and make your room appear larger. Whatever you do, avoid reds and rich purples as these two colors will absorb light rather than reflect it back and your room will feel quite claustrophobic. Another guaranteed way to make your room feel closed in is to paint your ceiling in a dark color: either leave it white, or paint it a paler shade of the color you use for your walls. The best way of all to make your room look larger is to make the most of natural light.

When painting small spaces it is always as well to remember the association color can have with mood. I am sure you wouldn’t want to walk into a room that exudes a cold and depressing ambiance, so be careful of the colors and shades you use. Could you be happy living with passionate red – or even the hint of aggression some shades of red give off? Some colors enhance productivity and others a sense of lethargy. Blue, meanwhile, gives off the sense of strength and trust. To clarify and focus your brain you couldn’t choose a better color than light blue or mint green. Despite the connotations attached to the color red you could use one wall as a focal point and paint that one wall crimson as an accent for the rest of your room.

If your room is too narrow you can always paint one of the walls dark, leaving the remaining walls light enough to reflect the natural light entering. This will give the impression of a wider space by causing an optical illusion that can change the room’s proportions. You can change the proportions in other ways too: paint a ceiling in a dark color to lower its height or in a lighter color to make it appear higher. Painting small spaces needn’t be all about optical illusions. I live in a cottage and my own rooms are absolutely Lilliputian in size – all of them. If you have an eye for detail and a flare for color shades you can really make the most of one or two colors right through the whole house.

Just as important when you are painting small spaces is to make use of texture and also take into account whether the room you are decorating gets daily sun shining through the windows or not. A bathroom which has little natural light would look much better painted in one of those paints with a shiny finish rather than a mat. When painting small spaces always remember the end result needs to be a room that you want to go into and spend time in: bear in mind, when you are painting that some effects would perhaps look better if used elsewhere – you can’t make a room into what it’s not, no matter how much you paint it or alter its color scheme.

When deciding to upgrade the look of your house, it is best to obtain interior house painting estimates so that you can save money and time. Adding a new coat of paint to your home’s interior will transform the look and feel of your house and at the same time add value to your home. Interior house painting estimates can be obtained online or from your local painting professional.

In understanding interior house painting estimates, it is important to know a little about the costs of materials needed. For starters, interior paint will cost you anywhere from $12 to $ 50 (if not more) per gallon, dependent on the quality of the paint. For a regular room of 12 x 12 feet, you can expect to pay up to $100 worth of paint and $50 for brushes, rollers, primers, and additional supplies. A licensed contractor using quality brand name paints will run anywhere from $200 to $400 for the same 12 x 12 room.

All interior house painting estimates should let you know the type of quality to be used in the paint (including primer) and prep work associated with the job, such as moving small items and taping. The reasons to buy quality paint over less expensive ones is that they last longer and oftentimes only require a single coat, instead or two or more. Understand also that if you are painting over dark colors, it will usually takes more coats of paint, than if the walls were previously a light color. Keep in mind, that interior house painting estimates will also include costs such as the preparation work needed to start painting. The removal of heavy furniture from a room is not often covered in the interior house painting estimates you will receive. Be sure to talk with the painter and review any costs if heavy furniture is to be moved. There are additional things you need to consider in reviewing painting quotes, like the type of roller or brush the painter will use. It sometimes pays more in the long run to buy quality rollers and brushes, as cheap ones leave fuzz on the walls. Another additional cost that needs to be considered is if the contractor has to paint baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting and other detailed work, as this will add to the estimate.

Always been on the lookout for discounts the painter has to offer when soliciting interior house painting estimates. The costs to paint the first room is always the most expensive, however, additional rooms may be painted at significant discounts if painted all at once. Reduced rates can also be found dependent on the time of year the work is to be done. Interior house painting estimates will often be cheaper in the winter months, early spring and late fall, and more expensive in the peak summer season.

It is a good idea to contract with a painter with a proven track record of customer satisfaction. Ask for references from previous jobs he has done. Be sure that the color of the paint is exactly what you want before the job begins. You don’t want to have to paint again due to choosing the wrong color the first time.

Is it time to renovate your guest bathroom? Before doing anything else, you should decide on what to do about the bathroom paint. Is the bathroom inside of the guest bedroom, or is it off a hall outside of the guest bedroom? The reason for this question is that the location of the guest bathroom is a determining factor in how the room is decorated.

If the guest bathroom is located within the bedroom, then you need to extend the decoration theme of the bedroom into the bathroom. At least the themes should complement the theme of the bedroom.

If the guest bedroom has green walls, and its bathroom has white fixtures, then you could go with a lighter or darker shade of green for the guest bathroom paint. Another option would be to paint the walls a neutral color, and decorate the room with green linens, and possibly plants on the vanity, or hanging from the ceiling.

If the guest bathroom is off the hall outside the guest bedroom, it’s not as essential that the guest bathroom paint complement the colors of the guest bedroom. You wouldn’t want to go to a radically different color, but the color needn’t be exactly the same as the bedroom color.

If the hallway is a neutral color, then almost any color would work. The important thing is that the bathroom should be a comfortable color for both men and women. Green, blue, and some shades of yellow work quite well in this regard. If your fixtures are white and chrome, teal would make a nice color.

Usually, the bathroom used for guests is a smaller bathroom than other bathrooms in the house. Darker colors make the room seem even smaller, so it is better to go with lighter, neutral guest bathroom paint.

Yellow, gold, and tan are nice neutral colors. Of course you also need to consider the color of the floor. It’s probably better to stay away from brown, which is kind of boring.

It’s important to use colors that work together, but yet make a relaxing, delightful environment. Chose a selection of colors that you, as the host, will enjoy, but that are comfortable for both male and female guests. That way everyone should be happy. Enjoy!

The following story was just published in the Charolotte Sun and Weekly Herald:

NORTH PORT — Steve Burnett formed the Monday 20 group in December as a way to encourage accountability among North Port entrepreneurs and small business owners.

But now, the fledgling business support group is taking on a new project in collaboration with the Kiwanis Knight Owls: a scholarship fund for aspiring entrepreneurs between the ages of 8 and 16.

“We want to get the endorphins cracking and get that creativity flowing,” said Burnett, owner of North Port’s Burnett Painting, LCC. “We really want to inspire some young entrepreneurs.”

The Monday 20 group is seeking applicants for two $250 scholarships to fund a young person’s business idea. Scholarship recipients will also receive six months of free business coaching from group members.

Burnett said the business ideas can range from something as simple as a lemonade stand to something as complex as product manufacturing — as long as the applicants, and not their parents, will be running the business.

Applicants will be judged on their business idea, competitiveness, business plans, the idea’s potential for success, and the uniqueness of their sales strategies.

The Monday 20 group initially began raising money for local charities, requiring each member to donate $20 to a nonprofit organization every time he or she was late for a meeting, missed a sales goal, or fell short of other goals member set for themselves.

After a few months, Burnett said, group members thought a youth scholarship fund might be a more targeted way of promoting the group’s overall mission of encouraging achievement and excellence in entrepreneurship.

“Everything we do is all about accountability,” Burnett said of his group, which meets at 5:45 a.m. every Monday morning. “There’s no blaming, no excuses, no denial. If there’s any hint of that, you’re not a fit with our group.”

Applications are due May 15 and will be chosen by June 1. Those who enter will be interviewed by members of Monday 20 and the Kiwanis Club. Completed applications, which should include a description of the idea and a business plan that addresses the criteria above, should be delivered to Café Gelato in the Heron Creek Plaza at the corner of Price and Sumter boulevards.

For more information on the scholarships or on the Monday 20 group, call Burnett at 941-979-7250.
