Reason #2 for Aiming High with Your Goals in Venice, Florida: Do the Most Good!

To recap, the first reason is to create more relationships; after all, life is all about relationships! Reason #2 is this: Think of all the GOOD you can do!

But you are doing good you say? Of course you are! Keep it up! Now, think about all the good you can do beyond what you are already doing. My aim is to be a full time volunteer at Pregnancy Solutions one day. Am I helping now? Yes, not by volunteering, but by financially contributing. Think of all the good that can be done by contributing from not only money, but time and talent, too! I love the Salvation Army’s quote, “Doing the Most Good.” I want to do the most good with what I have and to continue to be able to continue to increase that amount of good, whether increasing money, time, or talent to help out!

Until next time, remember, be all that you can be! ;) …in the Army or not…Burnett Painting suggests doing-the-most-good-

Quotes for Home Painting Should Be by the Project, Not Hourly

It’s time to have your house painted. As you look for a painter, Venice painters can charge you in very different ways. Some will charge you by the hour and some will charge you by the job. It may seem like the hourly painter is giving you a better deal, however it could be a lot more expensive for you in the long run.

When you look at exterior painting in Venice, Florida, it’s typically a stucco home. Painting stucco can be very time consuming because of the texture. There is a particular art to painting stucco efficiently; however, not all Florida painters understand this. By paying hourly, you may be allowing a Venice painter to get familiar with the stucco process, which could be costing you more than it should.

Is hourly rate painting better than by the project?

Is hourly rate painting better than by the project?

If you want to avoid getting charged too much from a painter, Venice, Florida painters should give you a quote for the entire job, not an hourly rate. When you are given a quote by the job, you know exactly how much the entire job will cost without having to guess, re-evaluate midway or run out of money in the process.

It’s important that your home experiences quality exterior painting. Venice, Florida painters will recognize home obstacles and different stucco repair problems that could lead to spending more time on your home and provide you with a quote based on all of this information. Some painters will charge you more and others will charge you less, but when you get quoted by the job, you know that is the total amount that you will spend.

As you look for a Venice painter, you should be getting quotes from several different companies. Anyone who gives you an hourly rate, kindly ask for an estimate for the whole project. For the exterior painting in Venice, Florida, it’s impossible for a painter to tell you exactly how long it will take to complete the job, but you can rest easily knowing that they aren’t done with the job until your house is completely painted and Burnett 1-800-PAINTING waits until you are completely satisfied, too!

A Florida painter who charges by the hour is harder to compare prices with the rest– who usually charge by the project and ask for half down and the other half when you are ecstatic about the results. You deserve better on your home, which is why you should always ask for a full project quote, not hourly rate.

Decorate your home in Punta Gorda like a sugar cookie with unique paint!

There’s a common term used throughout the housing industry: cookie cutter. No matter how beautiful some of the homes in the gated communities are, they can end up looking like they came out of a cookie cutter because builders use the same few floor plans and the same shades of paint for everyone in the neighborhood. Just because you bought the home as a cookie cutter doesn’t mean that it has to stay that way. Exterior painting in Punta Gorda, Florida can help you break the mold.

Punta Gorda exterior painting can be as unique as a sugar cookie!

Punta Gorda exterior painting can be as unique as a sugar cookie!

Consider decorating sugar cookies. They may all start off as boring sugar cookie snowmen. But if you add some extra frosting here and there, they start to look very unique. One wears a scarf, others have a funky hat and the cookies become individuals, even though they all came from the same mold.

Your home can be the same. Exterior painting in Punta Gorda, Florida is just like the frosting. A professional Punta Gorda painter can help you to achieve the unique qualities that you’re looking for so that you don’t have to see a cookie cutter house anymore. Just the addition of a fresh coat of paint in a different color from your neighbors can make a dramatic difference.

In addition to a fresh coat of paint, a painter in Punta Gorda, Florida can show you how to add in some additional features. This includes complementary colors for the trim, front door and garage door. Depending upon your preferences and the shape of your house, you can use three or four different colors on the outside of your home to add depth and sophistication.

Many homes throughout Venice, Punta Gorda, Nokomis and others only use one or two colors on the outside of a house. The front door and garage door painted in different, but complimentary colors adds a spark to any home. A Florida painter can show you that there is a whole world of color out there and you can explore all of them. The benefit of hiring a professional painter in Punta Gorda, Florida is that you get their expertise to help you with your painting project.

When you hire a painter in Punta Gorda, Florida, the painters should come out to your home for a consultation. This way the two of you can discuss a plan for the overall look you are trying to achieve with your home. Whether you change the colors of your home or not, a Punta Gorda painter can show you how adding in some colors and techniques can alter the appearance of your house.

Cookie cutters aren’t a bad thing. They help to create a necessary mold. Just like cookies, a Punta Gorda painter can enhance the final product so that it stands out in its own unique way!

Is a painting proposal or quote for my Venice, Florida Home important to get in writing?

Yes! Hiring a Florida painter can be fairly easy. Once they come out to your home, they give you a quote for free. After you get enough quotes, you have enough information to make a decision and hire a painter in Venice, Florida to paint your home. However, the warranty and the price quotes should always be given to you in writing so that you can guarantee that nothing is left out or added by accident.

A man is only as good as his word, but if you don’t know him, how do you know his word? Of course, a word of mouth referral is helpful and video testimonials are great, too. You want to ensure that what you’ve talked about during the estimate is what you will get in the end, including how long the paint will last. To do this, make sure that you ask for everything in writing.

The very first thing that you need in writing is the quote for exterior painting. Venice, Florida painters should quote you based on the job and not by the hour. This ensures that you know what the total cost is before you choose a painter. You’ll want to make sure the number of coats of paint are included in the proposal and which exact walls will be painted or trim. No matter which professional painter you go with, make sure to get the price quote or proposal in writing, which details everything that they will paint for the total cost. A great painter in Venice, Florida will even break down the price for you so you can really get down to the nitty gritty of what price is for what room.

By getting the price quote in writing, you have two things from the Florida painter. The first is that you have an agreement of what you will pay in order to get your home painted. The second is the pricing in writing to help you get other price quotes, but still cover the same areas to be painted. You want to make sure you are getting the best value, not just the cheapest price at the moment.

The other thing that you must get in writing from your painter in Venice, Florida is the warranty. This should cover the workmanship (or labor) and the quality of paint. The warranty will tell you how long the paint will last before it’s time to have your house painted again. Some warranties from a Venice painter can be as long as 9 years.

Exterior painting in Venice, Florida can last as little as two to three years because of the hot Florida sun and low quality paint being used. You can avoid problems by ensuring that your Florida painter is looking out for you with a warranty.

Getting everything in writing will protect your pocket book and your home so that you’re not wasting your money on a low performing exterior paint in Venice, Florida.

The Benefits of a Community-Involved Painter in Venice, Florida

When you’re shopping around for a Florida painter, it’s important that you choose one that is involved in the community. While it might not seem like a critical aspect to choosing a painter, it can help you experience peace of mind in the job that will be performed. The benefits of finding a painter that is a valued member of the community are very significant.

If you’ve been given a warranty by your Florida painter, you want to ensure that they are going to be around to honor the warranty. Otherwise, it’s just a piece of paper that will do absolutely nothing. By taking the time to look into the community involvement of a Venice painter, you can ensure that they aren’t going anywhere and that their warranty means something.

No painter in Venice, Florida is going to do anything to jeopardize their standing in their community. On the contrary, they are concerned about their community and how they treat others. If they are highly involved in the community it is because they have earned that spot. This means that their pricing is going to be competitive and their quality is going to be top notch.

Exterior painting in Venice, Florida should only be handled by professionals. One reason is because stucco is one of the hardest surfaces to paint. You need to make sure that there is even coverage so that your home looks its very best. By choosing a qualified Venice painter involved in the community, you can rest easily knowing that they are looking out for your best interests and the community as a whole.

Painters in Venice, Florida who are involved with the community look out for other members of the community. They will put their best foot forward time and time again on your home and the home of your neighbors because they know that is the best way to gain repeat business. It is what makes Burnett Painting FUN to own! Getting the know the community and all the wonderful people that make it their home-even just for a season. If you hire a Florida painter that does a great job, you’re going to tell people. Your painter is working to earn those high praises to your friends, family, and colleagues.

Burnett 1-800-PAINTING believes in community involvement

Burnett 1-800-PAINTING believes in community involvement!

If you were to choose a Florida painter that isn’t well known or involved in the community, there is nothing to stop them from offering you less than their best. You could experience someone who isn’t familiar with the demands of the Florida sun, the problems with stucco or anything else. If they don’t do a good job, they may continue the way they have always done business because they may not be affected by what the community thinks of them.

In the end, community involvement can act as a secondary warranty. A painter in Venice, Florida who has deep roots within the community has more to lose by disappointing you. This is what you need to ensure that you end up with quality paint used throughout your home and that it looks great when they are completed with the job. We want you to be a raving fan and our friend when Burnett 1-800-PAINTING is done with your project. We look forward to it!

Can I paint the exterior of my Punta Gorda, Florida Home anytime of the year?

It rains, it pours, it gets hot, it gets cold. Now add Love Bugs to the mix! The weather and pests in Punta Gorda, Florida are extreme; however, with a professional painter, you can paint the exterior of your home anytime of the year! By choosing a professional who knows how to work around the elements, it will ensure that your paint looks great for a very long time to come.

The exterior painting in Punta Gorda, Florida needs to be done when there is time for the paint to dry-which is easy since the sun does the work rather quickly! If there is one thing your painter will be on the lookout for, it will be Love Bugs in May. A swarm of Love Bugs can stop an exterior painting project for 2 or three days, up to a week! When painting your exterior, even colors near white, they can look almost black if the Love Bugs get stuck to it like the picture of the car! (Side Note: placing petroleum jelly onto the front of your car will make getting the Love Bugs off a snap!)

Love Bugs on Car, but not the exterior of your painted Punta, Gorda home!

Love Bugs on your car, but not the exterior of your painted Punta, Gorda home!

It may seem like a step back to have to wait a week for the Love Bugs swarm to go away, but it is not so long when considering having to start all over if they get stuck to the home midway through the project. This doesn’t mean May isn’t great for painting; it means hiring the professional painter who will make sure your home doesn’t get plastered with Love Bugs-even PAINTED ON Love Bugs, which is much worse since they flake off and leave spots of unpainted areas.

Some may try to tell you that you cannot paint during the rainy season of summer in Florida. This is not true. What is true, is that you cannot paint when it rains or your stucco is wet, for obvious reasons. A professional painter will have his crew out early and done for the day before the rains that usually hit between 2-4pm. Our crew likes to work from 7am-3pm. The days when no painting can be done are rare, but do occur. A professional painter will also take less than a week for a typical exterior home in Punta Gorda. They like to be quick and efficient and not leave a long standing project.

Can it ever be too cold to paint? Yes. If the weather reaches below 60 degrees (Fahrenheit) for most paint and there are some that will be fine until the weather reaches less than 35 degrees (Fahrenheit).

There are plenty of times throughout the year that a Florida painter can paint your home. The winter can also be a great time, but it’s also a great time for you to be outside enjoying the weather and not looking at a painting crew. By choosing a professional painter, you can enjoy the weather in the winter and a new coat of paint in the summer!

The exterior painting in Punta Gorda, Florida needs to get done regularly (only every 9 years, with Burnett Paintings warranty), and choosing the right professional painter can save you money and frustration. A painter in Punta Gorda, Florida will make an appointment, come out with their crews, and set to work on painting your home anytime of the year.  They will be monitoring the weather and the Love Bugs so you can relax and enjoy each of the four Florida seasons: Summer, Almost Summer, Almost Perfect and Perfect!

Compare Painter’s Quotes in Venice, Florida using Apples to Apples!

You’ve decided that exterior painting in Venice, Florida is needed to keep your stucco in top shape and to keep it protecting your home or perhaps you want to elevate your home to the next level. You may have even decided on colors that you want to incorporate through the front of your home. Now you need to find a Venice painter that will give an exceptional value and leave you thrilled with the whole process! Yes, that is possible! With Burnett 1-800-PAINTING, it is our goal and we won’t take the final payment until your satisfaction reaches 100% or MORE!

When hiring a painter, you will want to get at least 3 estimates or quotes. This will give you enough information to compare rates and see what you’re getting from each of the painters. But how do you know if you are comparing apples to apples with the final price each gives?Comparing Painting Quotes using Apples to Apples in Venice, Florida

First, it is important to get the quotes in writing so that you and the painter are on the same page with what scope of work will be done (aka: what will and what will not be included in the final price). No one wants to have surprises at the end of the project! A great painting company can offer you a warranty in writing, also.

Second, look for a painting company that walks around your house and asks you questions in order to properly give you a quote. This will ensure that you’re actually getting a customized quote, not a ball-park figure, and no surface you want painted will be missed.

Next, focus on what you’re getting with the price that is being quoted to you. Does it include paint? How many colors? Some painters in Venice, Florida will quote you for labor only if you supply the paint. Which surfaces does it include? Are all the areas you want painted, noted so there are no surprises? How many coats of paint? (This is a big question most people forget to ask when comparing prices.) Is there a warranty? How long? How long with the project take? Will you be charged more if they go over time?

A warranty can ultimately make or break the quote for exterior painting. Venice, Florida painters should issue a warranty based upon their workmanship as well as the quality of paint. Even nine years, with Burnett 1-800-PAINTING, is their typically warranty. The longer the warranty, the better shape you’ll be in because it will mean that you don’t have to paint your house again until the warranty runs out.

Finally, have fun! Choosing a painter in Venice, Florida or any of the surrounding can be a fun task when you like the company you’ve chosen and they are a fun company to hire. Why not set your expectations high? Look for a company you’d enjoy working with and enjoy referring your friends to. You owe it to yourself to have fun with this project!

Without comparing quotes completely, you’ll only know if you’re paying the highest or lowest price out there, not if you’re getting the best value. Getting a warranty on the work and getting an estimate will ensure that you not only get a great looking color scheme, but will save money in the long run. Comparing quotes from different painters by using more than just the cost, you’ll know you’re getting the best value your money can buy. Doesn’t that feel great?!

4 Weeks Down in the New Year, Venice! Are you who you want to be and where you want to be?

“The tragedy in life does not lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.

–Benjamin Mays

Don’t give up on your goals! Modify them, of course and, at times, you should! Better to “aim for the moon; at the very least, you’ll land among the stars!”

Today’s motivation: Why I think everyone’s goals should include striving to be a millionaire…

Jim Rohn said, “Don’t become a millionaire for the money; become a millionaire for the person you become along the way.” Who does one become on the journey to a millionaire? GREAT question! I’ll share a few answers over the course of the next few Sundays. First…

1. A blessing to people and a people person: Unlike what the news and media and T.V. would have us to believe, the majority of affluent have many, many deep and meaningful relationships and have been such a blessing to so many people. They don’t have “friends” who would say, “I don’t like ‘so and so’. They told me off.” That is not the road to success and anyone who’s taken that road, will find a dead end soon enough. By truly caring about people and taking our eyes off ourselves, we will develop numerous relationships of which you gain inspiration and give forth inspiration. You’ll be a joy to everyone you meet! What a life!

Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be first must place himself last of all and be the servant of all” Take a look, if you haven’t all ready, at Russell H. Conwell’s life. You can find it in the second half of the book Acres of Diamonds. He was a true servant (and friend) to literally, millions of people…a preacher, a speaker, creating 2 hospitals, and one university.

When Steve started Burnett Painting, we had many customers (We like to call them friends!). I’ve always enjoyed the friendships and I enjoy making new friends along the way. Our friendships have doubled since I’ve known Steve and I look forward to doubling again and again. WHY? Because we enjoy meeting our new customers who turn into our friends! We love to get to know them, their interests, their goals, and getting together with them, especially for coffee! ;) We like to find ways we can help out. It doesn’t even have to be painting related!

The very first time I went to a friend of Burnett Painting’s home in which Steve had done some work previously, I met a charming couple, BJ and Marie, who showed me their piano while Steve hung up a couple troublesome curtains for them. It was such fun! BJ and I played “Heart and Soul” together on the piano and I just had a blast! He is an expert piano musician and that memory is very sweet for me today. This is the stuff life is made for: relationships! First, and foremost, our relationship to God. Second, our relationship to  mankind.

I want to stress what Jim Rohn said, “Don’t become a millionaire for the money. Become a millionaire for the person you’ll become.”

A sneak peak for next time… Reason #2 why I think we all should aim to be millionaires: Think of all the GOOD you can do! More next time! Make it a super-fantastic day!

Should My Walls and Ceiling Be the Same Color for My Venice, Florida Home?

Decision time! To paint your walls and ceiling in the same color or to not paint them the same…. That is the questions of the day! It pays to understand the benefits of having them painted the same color versus when it doesn’t work for you. It can also make it easier when a painter in Venice, Florida is working with you to help you with current trends.

Burnett Painting in Venice Florida suggests painting ceiling trays different color

Burnett Painting in Venice, Florida suggests painting ceiling trays different color to make them "Pop!"

Right now, the trend in painting is that walls and ceilings are the same color. However, there are some caveats to this rule. This is generally speaking about very neutral colors, such as whites, tans and beiges. When you start to consider all of the other colors that a Venice painter could introduce you to, your room would look very monochrome if you went with all one color. Keeping the ceiling white will add more depth to your home.

When you’re looking for a painter, it’s important to understand that exterior painting in Venice, Florida is very different than interior painting. If you find a painter who specializes in exterior painting in Venice, Florida, home interiors may not be your painter’s forte, which means that you could end up with a look that is outdated or makes your room feel smaller than what it should be.

When you have a very small room or the walls are not very tall, having the walls and ceiling the same color can make it look smaller. Talking with your Venice painter, you will be able to choose one color that gives the appearance of taller ceilings and will then give the illusion that the space is larger than it really is.

For living rooms, a painter in Venice, Florida may recommend that you go with two different colors because it will add a layer of elegance to your room. Especially if you have tray ceilings, adding a bold color to the tray will make your room stand out with sophistication! Two different contrasting colors won’t flatten out the look of your room, but it can help make your look more distinguished.

You may also have crown molding to consider. A Florida painter can show you photos of previous work with crown molding so that you can decide what detail you like the most. This can provide you with a vintage look that can help break up the monotony of color. If you choose blue walls and a blue ceiling, the white crown molding, especially Burnett White in semi-gloss, will add style; this is one of my favorite looks!

When you hire a Venice painter to work inside your home, you need to discuss all of the options for your walls and ceiling. In most cases, it makes sense to have the two different colors. Many people opt for a very neutral color on their ceiling, such as a white or very light tan while the walls can be more vivid. This also makes it easier to incorporate new colors easier without repainting the entire home.

Deciding on wall and ceiling color can be time consuming, which is why more and more people turn to the advice of a professional painter. Venice, Florida homes can look phenomenal with a fresh coat of paint, but only when it’s been applied properly. Choosing a licensed and insured professional with a warranty will insure you are more than satisfied and become a raving fan, which is our goal for each customer!

6 Things to Look For When Hiring a Painter in Punta Gorda, Florida for Your Exterior

One of the easiest things to do is make a haste decision when hiring a Florida painter for your home. In an effort to save time, money, or both, you could be hiring a painter that is the least qualified to do the job. What’s worse is that it could end up costing you more time and money in the long run because you’ll need to have the job redone to meet your level of satisfaction.

There are 6 things that you need to look for when hiring a Punta Gorda painter for the exterior painting of your Florida home. When you cover all 6 of these things, you can ensure that you’re getting a better painter and will be happier with the results.

1.            Understand that not all painters in Punta Gorda, Florida are equal. Some are licensed and insured and some aren’t. The ones who aren’t may not be doing this as a full-time job which means they may not know all the tips and tricks of well seasoned painting professional. Also, when you hire an uninsured, painter without a license, you take on a big risk should anything go wrong. When you hire a licensed and insured painter, you also have the benefit that they will be there when you need them again, should you need touch ups here or there or want to know the name of the color you had placed on your walls previously. A professional painter with a license and insurance will be around for many years to come and will be happy to help you out in any way in the future.

2.            Make sure that the Punta Gorda painter has experience with exterior painting. Punta Gorda, Florida homes typically have stucco exteriors, which is part of their charm! Hiring a professional will ensure that when he comes for the estimate, he’ll be able to assess and inspect the stucco. Some stucco requires more sealer or less sealer than others due to the different porous levels of the stucco. Some are said to “drink up” the sealer and/or paint, while some paint goes on forever on a home. A professional painter will always take a look to see what he’s dealing with so he can give you an accurate price and not skimp on the sealer later due to a bad estimate. Sealer is very important since it protects your home from the previous chalking that may have occurred if you haven’t painted the home in due time. If the painter doesn’t have experience with exterior projects and doesn’t check for chalking on the stucco during the estimate, pass and find someone who does.

3.            Look for testimonials. Quality Florida painters will have many clients that are willing to tell the world about what a great job they’ve done. We call these “Raving Fans” taken from the awesome book by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowels. If you don’t see any testimonials and your painter is unwilling to share the names of clients, it may mean that they are new to the profession or just don’t have any satisfied clients; neither of these options should be acceptable.

4.            Have your Florida painter come out to your home. Exterior painting in Punta Gorda, Florida can be different for every home. Landscaping, AC units, multiple stories, and other features can make it difficult to paint a home. If the Punta Gorda painter doesn’t see what they have to work with, it could mean that they won’t paint as effectively as they could, or their price could increase due to time they didn’t factor in to work in the detail of the landscaping near the home.

5.            Look for a warranty. If the painter in Punta Gorda, Florida isn’t willing to back up their work with a warranty, you may want to think twice about hiring that painter. This warranty should cover the workmanship of the painting as well as the quality of paint. This way you’re not hiring another painter to re-do the work or having to repaint in a few years because of peeling or fading. A professional painter will be happy and proud to offer you a long warranty!

6.            When you look for a painter, Punta Gorda, Florida ask around. Do the locals know him/her? A good Punta Gorda painter will be involved in the community because it shows they are rooted, know the values of the community that they are in, and they also enjoy doing business locally, which helps every small business out. It also means that will fix anything that you’re unhappy with because they are a big part of the community and care more about you than just their bottom line.

Following these six keys when hiring a painter will save you money, time, and frustration in the end!
